Week 5 - Tudor England/Elizabeth/Spain
I would LOVE to have you watch the 1998 film Elizabeth, with Cate Blanchett as the virgin Queen. It is rated R, but if your parents will allow you to watch it, I strongly recommend it. Also here is a fine documentary on Elizabeth narrated by the wonderful writer/historian David Starkey. I'll also include the first link to another David Starkey series on Henry VIII. It's great, but too long for our purposes, I think. It's strictly optional (you can find the other parts on the right hand side if you want to watch them. There's also three great crash course videos for this week - this is the longest page on the website for summer work, so don't despair!
1. IMDB entry on Elizabeth - parental guide
2. Elizabeth: From Prison to Palace
3. Henry VIII: The Mind of a Tyrant (this is the optional one) - part 3
4. Henry VIII: The Mind of a Tyrant - part 4 (also optional)
5. Crash Course - Charles V and the Holy Roman Empire (HRE)
6. Crash Course - The Columbian Exchange
